Every interaction your field technicians have with a TrueContext workflow is an opportunity to save time, reduce errors, and deliver better service. That's why I'd like to invite you to explore some of the latest enhancements to Repeatable Sections.

Design with Field Techs in Mind

As you build and optimize your forms and workflows, think about the field user experience. How can you remove friction? How can you add clarity and speed? With the right configuration, your app helps your field team execute with confidence, context, and precision.

Let's dive into a few ways you can elevate the field users' experience with Repeatable Sections.

Sticky Headers: Keep Context in View

When scrolling through long lists of data, it's easy to lose track of what each column represents. Sticky headers solve that. In the "View All" screen, column headers now stay visible as users scroll-just like frozen rows in a spreadsheet. This is especially useful when working with large datasets, like dispatching 100+ entries into a repeatable section.

Prefer a cleaner view? You can now hide headers entirely, ideal for experienced users who know the layout and want to reduce visual clutter.

Row Wrapping: More Data, Less Scrolling

Horizontal scrolling on mobile is a hassle. With row wrapping, long answers now fit within the visible area by wrapping into multiple lines. This makes it easier to compare rows at a glance and maintain context, especially during inspections where visual references across entries matter.

Designers can group related fields visually to create "cards" of data, using space more effectively and reducing the need to scroll.

Sorting and Filtering: Find What Matters Fast

With enhanced sorting and filtering, technicians can quickly zero in on the data they need:

    • Tap column headers to sort entries.
    • Filter by multiple fields to find specific parts, statuses, or models. This limits visible data to only what's relevant-no more manual scanning through hundreds of rows.

These tools drastically reduce search time and help users stay on-task.

Custom Data Source Sorting: Show Data the Right Way

You can easily define how data from external sources appears in Repeatable Sections: sort by priority, workflow, or technician preferences using up to three columns. And if compliance requires a specific order, disabling sorting ensures field users can't rearrange rows in the repeatable section.

This gives form designers precise control over how field techs experience data, without altering the original data source.

    Inline Editing: Faster, Smarter Updates

We've expanded on our 2022 inline editing feature to make updates even faster:

    • Text fields are now directly editable in the summary table-no pop-up needed.
    • Button groups are also editable inline and are now color-coded for instant visual feedback.

These changes cut down clicks, boost efficiency, and keep users in context while updating entries.

Use the links at the end of this article to explore how to enable these features in repeatable sections and data sources.

    Conclusion

Repeatable Sections are more than a form feature-they're a tool for enabling smarter, faster, and more intuitive work in the field. With these enhancements, you can design cleaner layouts, present clearer context, and empower technicians with better information right where they need it most.

Try the updated features today and see the difference they make on the job.
