Today, we're excited to highlight how TrueContext's flexibility in document output continues to be one of our standout features. Over the years, our support for the FreeMarker and Handlebars template languages has enabled users to create tailored outputs that cover their needs for compliance, communication, and more.

To make this even easier for you, we've recently updated our User Assistance documentation to help you use FreeMarker more effectively. Now you can find detailed guidance on how to leverage FreeMarker for creating documents that meet both your advanced needs and those of your customers.

FreeMarker's capabilities allow you to apply conditional or custom formatting to PDFs, Word documents, or HTML files. You can also dynamically generate text from submitted records, outputting data to text files or HTTP request bodies. With our latest improvements in FreeMarker handling, you'll find our documentation more comprehensive than ever. It now includes a quick reference guide, tips on pulling answers from repeatable sections, and much more.

If you're interested in learning more about the TrueContext data model, we've got a new section just for that! We would love to hear your thoughts and feedback on these updates.

To get started or explore further, check out our updated documentation on FreeMarker Templates. Don't forget to try out the sample FreeMarker custom PDF layout available in the Forms Library for some hands-on experimentation! Please note, this is for advanced users who are familiar with FreeMarker and basic programming concepts.

If you happen to tinker with your FreeMarker documents as a result of this, please let us know how it goes in the comments below.

    Hey Erin,

Great to see some additional FTL documentation (and on the data model!)

We've been using freemarker in combination with our own PDF renderer (domPDF implementation) to create some great custom documents and it has been working great.
