    Hello -

We are setting up our connection between TC and Power BI using an API and are struggling somewhat with the support documentation.

Our live spaces live on the truecontext.com website, but the documentation on setting up the API all still points to prontoforms.com. We have tried both locations, without any luck.

Has anyone had any experience setting up their connection that you would share?

    Many thanks!

    Hey Kylie!

Thank you so much for the question! Just wanted to touch on the API documentation, the correct docs for our API is going to be here: https://live.prontoforms.com/api-docs and the base API URL will still be listening at: https://api.prontoforms.com/api/1.1/

That is one of the things that we did not update to TrueContext because there are a lot of existing workflows built out there so we didn't want to break anything like that.

When it comes to PowerBI, I would personally suggest that you push your data into a Sharepoint List and point PowerBI at the list to report from there. I have actually written a community post about doing just that, it is a high level overview on this topic but should shed some light on the topic: https://community.truecontext.com/discussion/ians-insights-ep-9-microsoft-lists-and-powerbi-what-to-do-with-your-data#bm2b921673-5a2b-4b28-a161-e2bfb8019215

Using the Sharepoint List as a place for all your data makes the ingestion and formatting of the data a little easier than pushing the submissions through with our API. If you are already using a List or Document Library as a destination for your forms, you can even just point PowerBI to a Document Library and report off the Custom Metadata that is associated.

I am also curious as to which endpoint you were trying to use and were unsuccessful with in regards to our API.

I hope this helps and feel free to follow up with more details/questions!
    Thank you

    Hi Ian -

Thanks for responding to this - I did sent you a DM thanking you. I was wondering if you might be able to help me. We set up connections to SP Lists based on your recommendation - 2 of the lists populate as expected, however 2 of them constantly receive this error message:

Send to your Microsoft SharePoint List account (Shop Daily to SP List)

    Failed

Microsoft Graph API Error: invalidRequest -- One of the provided arguments is not acceptable. -- 9bcf6e55-cb8d-485d-b093-572e06c2a2b9 -- Fri Feb 23 16:49:42 UTC 2024 (ID ce8dd47c-a704-4a9d-9f20-63e2d9ae339f__5)

I have a ticket open with support, but have not heard back from them in over a week. Anything you can provide that might give me some insight to this error would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks!

    Ravneet –

I did hear back from Victory after sending this message to Ian earlier.

I believe she closed the ticket based on the information she gave and I followed.

    Thanks for following up though.

    Hi Kylie,

Thank you for your update and response on the support ticket. Here is a summary of the resolution for the issue for your reference.

This "Microsoft Graph API Error: invalidRequest -- One of the provided arguments is not acceptable" error usually indicates a conflict between what SharePoint is expecting and what it is receiving.

The error is telling us that there is an issue with some of the data we are trying to send to the SharePoint List data destination.

The first step in trying to determine what might be causing this error is to see if there is a conflict with the format of the data being sent and what is being expected in the corresponding columns in SharePoint.

One way to figure this out is to review the "Column Mapping" in the SharePoint List Data Destination in the TrueContext portal.

Then use "Test DREL" on the form submission with the error to see the resulting values of the DREL expression from the "Value" column in the "Column Mapping".

    image

When doing this, we saw that the format of the answer for the DREL expression %a[FieldDate] in the Data Destination resulted in a date that looked like this: 20240207

It is possible that the appropriate date column in the SharePoint List was expecting a date format that included "/", "-", or other characters. If this is the case then it will cause Microsoft to throw an error because it was not expecting a date in the format that was sent from our server.

The next step would be to manually put the answer "20240207" into a new row (in the appropriate column) directly in the SharePoint List and confirm if this generates an error message.

If this does generate the same error message, then we know this is the issue. Updating, using DREL in the TrueContext app, how this date is formatted to match what the SharePoint List destination is expecting will resolve this error.
