Hey Kylie!
That is a great question and one we have heard in the past. You can accomplish the type of behavior described by implementing some of the features and functionality available in our solution today. I will describe some of them below at a high level (with links to our documentation included), but welcome you to touch base with your customer success manager to discuss the options in more detail.
Option 1: Dispatching workflow using the Dispatch Data Destination.
This might be the least attractive of the options as it would require connecting your form to a dispatch data destination and essentially having your field users re-dispatch the forms to themselves each time they wish to switch from one device to the next. The field technicians will be able to find these dispatched data records in their TrueContext application Inbox, on any of the devices they concurrently use.
As I alluded to beforehand, this process will create separate data records in the system each time a submission is made, so it might cause some additional effort when analyzing the workflow as you would have to look at many data records.
Option 2: Editing Form Submissions.
TrueContext allows your team members to edit completed form submissions and this can be initiated by an administrator via the web portal (Live) or in the mobile application. This piece of functionality can help in a couple of different ways, first of all it allows you to correct errors that would impact downstream workflows; it also allows field technicians to adjust forms if your end customer changes their mind about any of the items collected in the initial submission of the form; and finally, it can enable progressing through a multi-stage workflow.
This functionality is configured at the form level, giving you control over which forms you want to allow your users to edit. There are some important considerations to keep in mind when enabling this functionality on your forms, so I strongly advise going through our documentation page for a deeper dive into the functionality.
Option 3: Teamwork.
Teamwork enables mobile users to transfer incomplete forms for other users (or themselves) to complete as part of a workflow. Users can transfer forms directly to other users, or they can submit them as incomplete. Team members can claim these incomplete form submissions on whichever device they wish to use, or supervisors can reassign the incomplete forms from the web portal.
Hope this helps and once again, please connect with your CSM to discuss any other potential avenues to accomplish what you are hoping to configure!
Best regards,
